About JHG

Gaza is at the center of a deepening humanitarian crisis, where crumbling infrastructure, unreliable basic services, and unsafe living conditions are the daily reality for its people. Exorbitant water prices, sewage flooding into the streets, and shelters vulnerable to any change in circumstances create an environment of constant instability and insecurity. In response, the Jumpstarting Hope in Gaza coalition has mobilized to deliver a sustainable and innovative solution: the creation of secure, off-grid shelters that provide both immediate and long-term relief for 20,000 displaced individuals—10,000 in the northern and 10,000 in the southern regions of Gaza.

At the heart of this project is the integration of advanced off-grid Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and energy technologies. These innovative systems are designed to ensure sustainability, independence, and self-reliance, empowering local communities to regain a sense of stability in the face of extreme challenges. These shelters are more than just safe havens—they represent hope for a better future, where reliance on failing infrastructure is replaced by self-sufficient, resilient communities.
